January 2017

Dear Friend of our Foundation:

As we close on the month of January, we wanted to share with you some of our accomplishments from the past year and a brief glimpse into our plans for this new year. We hope to keep in contact with you each month via a brief update and hope you will continue to help us in our mission to promote charitable activity to improve the quality of life. We continue to believe the road ahead is wide open.

Starting this month we will share with you a charity/foundation/cause that aligns with what inspires our foundation and make a donation in your honor. We feel that this will help us help others as well as ensure that the love that has been shared with our foundation is passed along to help make the world a better place.

For January, we've decided to make a donation to the National Wildlife Refuge Association (NWRA), a group aimed at helping to preserve our national treasures.

Please have a read of the below to see what our foundation and followers have done in 2016 and we'll be back next month to talk more about what we're working on for this year.

Much Love to you all!

We continue to be amazed by the spirit of our annual event.

On Saturday November 12th, over 500 of you came out to Jergel's Rhythm Grille in Warrendale to help us celebrate Music & Art - and raise funds to help us realize our mission.

Thank You for your continued support!

Established in 1975, NWRA helps protect the 568 million acre National Wildlife Refuge system.

As a nation, we are so lucky to have the worlds largest network of lands and waters set aside for wildlife conservation. It should be comforting to all of us to know that these lands are protected for the enjoyment by future generations. A donation was made from our foundation to help keep these resources WILD!

Our 3rd Annual Packaging Event was a huge success - that's 30,000+ meals packaged to date!

Just after Christmas, Emma's Peace Gang mobilized to help pack just over 10,000 meals to be shipped around the world to those in need. This 3rd annual packaging event was as good as they get and included over 40 volunteers. These food packaging events are fun and very meaningful for the lives that they will save.

Henry's List
Think of it as an Angel Tree - but only all year long! Our Henry's List initiative really started to take shape in 2016 as we worked to match up those in need with those who can help.

We've partnered with Providence Connections (a family ministry of the Sisters of Division Providence) and Light Of Life Rescue Mission to help identify those in our community that are working towards a better life for their families - but need a bit more help.

This past year we've made several dozen deliveries of household items - beds, dressers, appliances, furniture and clothes - to those around us that need a little help.

We're going to grow this program in 2017 and need help with both donations (beds & dressers are at the top of the list) and delivery (working to schedule delivery days) to make this happen.

Emma's Project Earth
One world is enough for all of us.

As long as we take care of it.

Because we collectively place a large burden on the planet, it's up to us to help to limit or reverse that burden when we are able. Emma had a vision to help Mother Earth by planting trees, recycling and cleaning up litter left behind by others. We can see that as a reality if we all work together.

This past year we've sponsored individual projects, simple in design, to help reduce our burden on the world around us. These Emma's Project Earth projects included litter collection, tree planting and butterfly habitat support - small in scale but hopefully large on impact.

We'd love to see the number and scale of projects grow this coming year - up to and including a community garden where our volunteers can come together to grow produce off the land and share with those in need.

The Art Bus
We are working to purchase a bus and take it on the road staffed by volunteers to bring art to areas where it's lacking (schools where programs were cut, areas where kids may need after-school experiences, etc).

We plan to be staffed by volunteer Art teachers, there students and members of Emma's Peace Gang as we organize 'pop-up' art events on a scheduled basis.

Night Out With A Purpose
After a successful kick off in 2016, we're working to organize more volunteer events to allow adults to 'walk the talk' and show youth that volunteering is a great way to help others.

Each night begins with a meaningful volunteer experience, and after a few hours of 'doing good' is followed by adult beverages, snacks and/or dinner.

Stay tuned for more info!
