April 2017

Dear Friend of our Foundation:

OK, NOW spring is here! Or at least for a few days, hopefully you are getting out and about to enjoy the rebirth that this season brings to nature. It's a great time of year.

We continue to marvel at the beauty of nature and since Earth Day is this month, we wanted to make sure our plans included a bit of respect and love to our Mother Earth. It's only right. Our team helped celebrate Earth Day by repeating a clean-up project that we attacked last October along a busy shopping corridor in Pittsburgh's North Hills.

We also continued to invest our gang's time in Henry's List with a great weekend in early April where our 30+ volunteers came together to help collect, organize and deliver over 50 items to 5 families that were in need. Our 80+ mile adventure continued to remind us that we're on the right track and that the love that you all have shared with our foundation can and should be shared with others.

We also spent a great evening with residents at a Pittsburgh High-Rise when our Night Out With A Purpose (aka NOWAP) took a group of adults to a meal program as part of Light of Life - followed up with drinks at Max's Allegheny Tavern on the North Side, where we met Randy. More on that as time moves on. Drop us an email reply if you'd like to get more involved.

For now, we're back to work sending Much Love to you all!

We're sure you saw this coming! With April finding us celebrating Earth Day, we just had to make a donation to help Mother Earth. The National Forest Foundation helps ensure that the 193 MILLION acres of National Forests are allowed to thrive and be a natural resource for our nation to share. 193 MILLION acres, that's about the size of California, Pennsylvania and Colorado combined. That's a lot of trees!

But even with that much national forest, it's been estimated that since mans existence, about half the trees in the world are gone. While nature is here for us to enjoy, we need to make sure it's sustained, which is why we love the NFF.

Another great weekend in early April where the collective effort of over 35 people helped to source/pickup/deliver the items that found their way into homes of those in need. Our rented box truck travelled 86 miles from 3pm Friday until 2pm Saturday (a total of 12+ active hours). We placed 51 items in the homes of the 5 families.

The secret sauce of Henry's List is engagement. While other groups provide furniture to those in need, our team also provides love. It continues to amaze us with each delivery how we leave a little bit of love behind.

'It felt like our foundation was giving our Mother Earth a great big hug!'

On a beautiful spring morning - which just so happened to be Earth Day - our gang took to the street to help support Mother Nature. Following up from our clean-up in October of last year, we had a great group of young people that spent the morning picking up litter along Pittsburgh's McKnight Road. For what we hope to be an annual event, our team collected bags of litter and recyclables to allow Mother Nature to start to bloom now that the weather is picking up.

As part of Emma's Project Earth, this program helps to reduce man's impact on the environment by roadway clean-up, recycling and tree planting - our small way to give respect to Mother Nature. We'll be back in October to do it again - and sooner to plant trees to recognize the generosity of our foundation donors.

We got word this past week that the 10,000 meals that we packed after Peace, Love & Emma last year are being deployed as part of a feeding program in Nicaragua! Those of you that remember Roberto Clemente will likely have a special feeling of pride to know that some of the love you shared with our foundation at our annual fundraiser is being sent to this area which was very special to number 21.

Humanitarian Aid is very important to our foundation and the packaging event that we celebrated last December is one part of the way that we honor Emma's legacy and make "Mankind our business."
